SP's Akhilesh Yadav wins his 1st Assembly election from Karhal

Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav won his first Assembly election from Karhal constituency on Thursday by over 67,000 votes, EC's data shows. His closest rival was BJP's SP Singh Baghel. To note, Karhal has voted for SP since 1993, except in 2002 when BJP managed to win from there. SP has won 29 Assembly seats.
