SRH debutant Sakib Hussain wanted to join Army; his mother sold jewellery to buy spikes for him

SRH's Sakib Hussain, who took four wickets on his IPL debut against RR on Monday, hails from Bihar's Gopalganj. He initially wanted to join Army. He faced financial hardship as his father was a daily-wage labourer and a farmer. Notably, his mother sold her jewellery to buy his first pair of spikes. He was bought by SRH for ₹30 lakh.
