Sri Lanka imposes entry ban on 6 African nations over new variant

Sri Lanka on Saturday said it will ban travellers from six Southern African countries over concerns about the new Omicron variant of COVID-19. The variant was first detected in South Africa and the WHO declared it as a Variant of Concern. The ban will apply to South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini from Monday.
