Sri Lankan President Dissanayake's NPP coalition wins parliamentary majority
Sri Lankan President Anura Dissanayake's Jathika Jana Balawegaya (or National People's Power) coalition won a majority in the country's parliament after a snap general election. NPP held just three of 225 seats before the elections, which prompted Dissanayake to dissolve the parliament and seek fresh polls. NPP won at least 137 seats with 62% votes in the latest elections.
