Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigns after arriving in Singapore

Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has resigned after landing in Singapore. "The Speaker of Sri Lanka's Parliament has received President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's resignation letter," Sri Lankan Speaker's office said. The Singapore government has said Rajapaksa is on a "private visit" and has not asked for asylum and neither has he been granted any asylum.
