Sri Lanka's Tamil regions on alert as LTTE commemorations planned

Sri Lankan forces were put on alert in the country's Tamil-dominated regions in the north and east to curb attempts to commemorate Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) members killed in civil war. The move came ahead of the 15th anniversary of the end of the war, May 18. The LTTE had sought a separate homeland for country's Tamil population.
