Srinagar's tulip garden opens 2 weeks early

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden in Srinagar, which is the largest in Asia, was opened on March 16, two weeks before its usual schedule. A sudden rise in temperatures has been cited as the reason for this. Inaugurated in 2008, it houses around 1.5 million tulips of 70 different varieties. Additionally, 20 new varieties have been imported this year.
