SS United States to become world’s largest artificial reef

The historic SS United States has left Philadelphia for its final journey, set to become the world’s largest artificial reef off Florida’s Gulf Coast. The 1,000-foot ocean liner, which set a transatlantic speed record in 1952, will boost marine life and tourism. The transformation, costing over $10 million, is expected to take 18 months.
