Startup founder says BBMP sought bribe for water connection, gave official & unofficial options

Bengaluru-based startup founder Ravichandra Reddy alleged Bengaluru's BBMP officials demanded bribes for road-cutting work related to getting a water connection. Reddy said road cutting was needed as water pipeline was on opposite side of road. The officials demanded ₹80,000 as official payment, with ₹20,000 bribe, or ₹40,000 as "unofficial" payment, with Reddy having to restore the road himself.
