State lawlessness: HC as WB minister illegally appoints woman in secretariat

Calcutta High Court criticised state lawlessness after a minister appointed a contractual employee to his secretariat without due process or a sanctioned post. Dismissing the woman's plea for reinstatement, HC held that a contractual employee has no right to continue after contract expiration and said the minister lacked authority. It also said the action undermines the rule of law.
