Pro-Kannada organisations called for a statewide Karnataka bandh from 6 am to 6 pm on August 13, activist Vatal Nagaraj announced. This comes as protests erupted after the state was directed to release 3,500 cusecs of Cauvery water daily to Tamil Nadu for 15 days. Farmers, pro-Kannada groups and other stakeholders protested in Mandya, Mysuru and other Cauvery basin districts.
