Statewide shutdown protest in Kerala over Dalit student's death

A statewide shutdown protest began in Kerala on Tuesday over death of Dalit BDS student Nithin Raj at his college on April 10. Shutdown has been called by various Dalit organisations and Nithin Raj Action Council, demanding action in case. Raj had died by suicide, with his family accusing faculty members of subjecting him to persistent caste-based discrimination and harassment.
