Stationery chain Staples to be bought for over ₹44,000 crore

Private equity firm Sycamore Partners on Wednesday said it would acquire office supplies chain Staples for $10.25 per share in a deal worth $6.9 billion (over ₹44,500 crore). Shira Goodman will continue as Staples CEO after the deal. Staples has the largest share of office supply stores in the US at 48%, with 1,255 stores in the country.
