The only swimmer camel breed in the world, Kutch's 'Kharai camel' will now get protection as endangered species. The recent recognition as a separate breed of camels is expected to give a boost to conservation and research efforts. Endangered status is given to breeds whose population is less than 10,000 and this species of camel totals to 6200.
