Stockdale Paradox: A lesson on how to survive in times of crisis

Admiral James Stockdale survived 8 years of imprisonment in Vietnam during 1965-73. Many of his comrades didn’t survive. About the ones who perished, he said they were the optimists who constantly believed they’d be out soon. And the ones who did had unwavering faith they’d prevail in the end but understood their current realities. This became the Stockdale Paradox.
