Stripe nearly halves valuation to $50 bn after raising $6.5 bn

Digital payments company Stripe has raised $6.5 billion in a funding round led by existing and new investors at a reduced valuation of $50 billion, down nearly 50% from two years ago. The fintech startup was valued at $95 billion in March 2021. The company said that it "does not need this capital to run its business".
