Student dies by suicide at IIT Kanpur, 2nd incident in 23 days

Ramswaroop Ishram, a PhD scholar, died by suicide at IIT Kanpur, marking the second suicide case within just 23 days. Earlier on December 29, 2025, a final-year B Tech student of IIT Kanpur was found dead in his hostel room. The Ministry of Education has constituted a three-member committee to examine the recent incidents of student suicides in IIT Kanpur.
