Student pilot crashes plane in Virginia, 23-yr-old flight instructor dies

A 23-year-old flight instructor, who was a former Hampton University athlete, died after an aircraft crashed into a ditch during a flight lesson in Virginia. The 18-year-old student pilot and another 18-year-old passenger were hospitalized. Investigators determined the student tried to pull up the Cessna 172 at a steep angle during takeoff, causing the engine to stall in the air.
