Students with 4-year degree can directly pursue PhD, said UGC.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced the National Eligibility Test (NET) for PhD applicants with 4-year undergraduate degrees. A minimum grade of 75% or equivalent is required for PhD programs, while master's degrees require 55% marks. Starting 2024-2025, NET scores will replace separate entrance tests for universities nationwide.
