Study finds MGNREGA works improve groundwater levels in Andhra
A study in Andhra Pradesh's Prakasam district examined how water conservation assets created under MGNREGA affect local hydrology and greenery. It found that structures such as rainwater harvesting systems, farm ponds, check dams and trenches improve water availability and vegetation, with groundwater levels rising by 2 to 5 metres.
