Study finds why cave lion that went extinct 14,000 years ago was unique

A new study has revealed the reasons behind the uniqueness of the cave lion that went extinct 14,000 years ago. The cave lion, whose scientific name is Panthera spelaea, didn't actually live in caves and was significantly larger and built more robustly than the modern lion. It dwelled in colder climates, most likely in northern Eurasia and northwestern North America.
