Study shows nocturnal ants use lunar compass to travel at night

A study published in Current Biology demonstrated that nocturnal bull ants use a lunar compass to travel at night while also being able to predict the moon's changing position across the sky. Through experiments, it was found that the ants combined an internal estimate of the moon's arc using a simple prediction rule, then periodically corrected it using skyline cues.
