Study suggests Africa may have had multi-storey buildings 2,800 years ago
Archaeologists have claimed Ethiopia was once home to buildings up to 20 storeys tall, in a study published in Heritage. Experts analysed Grat Be’al Geubri, an ancient palace in northern Ethiopia built in 800 BCE. Its 33-foot pillars and stair remnants suggest it had at least three stories. Experts believe designers combined stone and timber in construction during this period.
