Suffering from hiccups for months, Bolsonaro undergoes surgery
Brazil's former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is in prison, underwent a phrenic nerve block procedure to treat persistent hiccups. "It's been nine months of struggle and anguish with daily hiccups," his wife, Michelle Bolsonaro, said on Saturday. The phrenic nerve controls the diaphragm. Bolsonaro will undergo surgery again on Monday to treat the left side of the nerve.
