Malaysia's royal families elected Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar from Johor state as nation's next king on Friday. While the king mainly plays ceremonial role, he contributes to major appointments, including the prime minister, and serves as the head of Islam in the predominantly Muslim country. Sultan Iskandar, 64, will assume the position after current king's term ends on January 31.
