Sunk ancient sea caused giant gravity hole in Indian Ocean: Study

Indian scientists have found that the giant gravity hole in the Indian Ocean, the Indian Ocean geoid low, could've formed from remnants of ancient Tethys Ocean that sank millions of years ago. The disturbance caused by Tethyan slabs in the African Large Low Shear Velocity province may've led to plumes beneath the Indian Ocean, resulting in this negative geoid anomaly.
