Supreme Court classifies small packages of coconut oil as edible

Supreme Court ruled in a 15-year-old dispute that coconut oil in small packages can be classified as edible oil and will be taxed at lower rate. If coconut oil is packaged in small bottles and labelled for use on hair, it should be classified as hair oil, SC added. Cooking oil attracts 5% GST, while hair oil attracts 18% GST.
