Supreme Court hints at pausing key provisions of Waqf Act
The Supreme Court, while hearing pleas challenging the validity of Waqf Act, hinted that it may impose an interim stay on key provisions. The provisions include having non-Muslims in the Central Waqf Council, powers accorded to collectors on deciding dispute and de-notifying court-declared Waqf properties. While SC was about to dictate the order, Centre sought more time to file response.
