Supreme Court stays dismissal of IPS officer who probed Ishrat Jahan encounter

Supreme Court granted a week's stay on the Centre's dismissal order of Satish Chandra Verma, an IPS officer who assisted CBI in its investigation into the Ishrat Jahan encounter case in Gujarat. "It's for the High Court to consider...whether the order of stay...be continued beyond a week," SC said. This comes after Delhi HC stayed the dismissal till September 19.
