Supreme Court stays its own order on Aravalli hills definition

The Supreme Court on Monday "put in abeyance" its November 20 decision to accept the Central Environment Ministry's definition of Aravalli hills. The ministry proposed that only landforms at an elevation of 100 metres or more above local relief, including their slopes and adjacent land, would be classified as part of Aravalli hills. This sparked mining concerns in the region.
