Supreme Court upholds constitutional validity of SC/ST Amendment Act 2018

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the constitutional validity of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2018. There is no provision for anticipatory bail for the accused under the amended Act. The amendment was enacted to nullify the effects of the Supreme Court's March 20, 2018 judgement that had diluted the provisions of the Act.
