Surat municipal body orders probe to find who demolished shanties

Gujarat's Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) ordered an inquiry into the demolition of 80 shanties to find out who demolished them. SMC Standing Committee Chairman Rajan Patel said, "I learned about the demolition from the media. It is a matter of investigation as to who carried out the demolition." Congress alleged SMC carried it out for a builder seeking the land.
