Hawaiian 23-year-old professional surfer, John John Florence surfed on waves as high as 60 feet to win the $75,000 Quiksilver Eddie Aikau Invitational meet held at Hawaii's Waimea Bay. The tournament which is known as “The Eddie” honors the late Eddie Aikau, a former Hawaiian lifeguard and big-wave surfer who disappeared in 1978 while rescuing a fellow crew-member.
