Suriname President gets 20-year jail term for killing opponents

Suriname President Desi Bouterse was sentenced by a court to 20 years in prison for the execution of 15 political opponents. Bouterse, who was found guilty of planning and ordering the extrajudicial execution in 1982 following a coup, will have two weeks to appeal against the conviction. He is currently on an official visit to China.
