Susan Wojcicki rented out her garage to 2 students in 1998 to help start Google
Susan Wojcicki, former YouTube CEO who passed away aged 56 after battling cancer, had rented out her garage to Larry Page and Sergey Brin to help start Google in 1998. Page and Brin were PhD students at Stanford then and Wojcicki charged them $1,700 per month. She joined Google in 1999 to become Google's 16th employee and first marketing manager.
