Ukraine's Elina Svitolina defeated Russian Veronika Kudermetova in the Australian Open on Monday, reaching the quarterfinal for the third time. Meanwhile, her husband Gaël Monfils' campaign ended after he retired from his match against USA's Ben Shelton. The 38-year-old Monfils, the oldest man to reach the Round-4 in Melbourne since Roger Federer, had also won eight matches in a row.
