Switzerland win 1st FIFA World Cup knockout-round game in 88 years

Switzerland defeated Algeria 2-0 in their Round of 32 match at FIFA World Cup 2026, securing their first knockout-stage victory since 1938. Breel Embolo opened the scoring in 10th minute, while Dan Ndoye doubled the lead in 46th minute with his first-ever World Cup goal. Switzerland will face winner of the match between Colombia and Ghana in Round of 16.
