Syria foils arms smuggling attempt to Hezbollah at Iraq border

Syrian authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle advanced weapons and missiles along the Syrian-Iraqi border, an Interior Ministry source said. Preliminary investigations indicate the shipment was meant for Hezbollah in Lebanon and was to transit Syrian territory to reach the group. US President Donald Trump said ​in June he'd ​spoken to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa about ‌combating Hezbollah.
