Syrian parliament holds first meeting since Assad's ouster in 2024
Syria's Parliament held its first meeting in Damascus on Sunday since the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024. One-third of the parliament's 210 members, including 15 women, were picked by President Ahmed al-Sharaa on July 1. Bashar al-Assad was Syria's President for 24 years after the death of his father, who had been the country's president before him.
