Syrian President Assad sacks PM Khamis amid economic crisis

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has sacked PM Imad Muhammad Dib Khamis as the country grapples with an economic crisis that has triggered protests. Khamis has been replaced by Water Resources Minister Hussein Arnous for an interim period until parliamentary polls take place on July 19. The Syrian pound hit a record low of 3,000 against the US dollar this week.
