Taiwan expanding anti-ship missile arsenal to deter China
Taiwan is adopting an asymmetric "kill zone" strategy to turn the Taiwan Strait into a costly bottleneck for potential Chinese invasion fleets. Moving away from ship-for-ship matching, Taipei plans to deploy roughly 1,850 mobile, precise anti-ship missiles, including US Harpoons and indigenous Hsiung Feng systems, by 2029 to maximise deterrence despite logistical and preemptive strike risks.
