Taking care of mother-in-law not mandatory after son's death: Karnataka HC

Karnataka HC ruled that widow who got family property through gift deed isn't legally bound to take care of mother-in-law after her husband’s death, unless the deed explicitly imposed such condition. It was hearing a woman's petition challenging a tribunal's order to "face consequences" for not attending to needs of mother-in-law. Tribunals can't create such obligation retrospectively, HC said.
