Tamil a beautiful language, regret knowing only vanakkam: PM

Speaking during 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Tamil is a beautiful language and he regrets that his knowledge of the language is restricted to the greeting "vanakkam". Apologising to the audience for not being able to speak to them in other languages, he said, "Tamil is the oldest language...older than Sanskrit."
