Tamil anthem can be sung before Vande Mataram at events: Madras HC

The Madras High Court said the Tamil Thai Vazhthu can be sung before the national anthem and Vande Mataram at government events. The court clarified that the Union Home Ministry's order requiring Vande Mataram to be sung first does not prohibit the Tamil anthem to be sung before it. The order does not govern state songs, the Centre said.
