Tamil Nadu drops Parandur airport project amid protests

Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay announced on Monday that his government has decided to drop the proposed plan to build a greenfield airport at Parandur near Chennai. The local residents and environmentalists had objected to the airport plan citing environmental concerns and danger to multi-crop agricultural lands in Parandur. Notably, Vijay had campaigned against the project before election.
