Tamil Nadu govt moves Supreme Court against HC's ban on cow slaughter

Tamil Nadu government has moved Supreme Court, challenging the Madras High Court's order that imposed a blanket ban on slaughter of cows. The government argued the order contradicts a state law, which allows the slaughter of cows aged over 10 years that are unfit for work or breeding. Only a certificate issued by a competent authority is needed for it.
