Tamil Nadu detected 48,469 tuberculosis (TB) cases in the first half of 2026, with all patients started on treatment under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). The state plans to strengthen early screening, active surveillance and community participation to achieve its goal of becoming a TB-free state, Health Minister KG Arunraj said.
