Tamil Nadu rolls out one-gram gold ring scheme for newborns

Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay inaugurated 'Thaai Maaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam' (Maternal Uncle Gold Ring Scheme) and distributed one-gram gold rings to newborns at the Government Rajaji Hospital. For the initial rollout, the Tamil Nadu government has procured 1.28 lakh gold rings. The welfare scheme will cover eligible newborns born on or after June 22 in state-run hospitals.
