Tata Steel's Dutch unit faces criminal summons over pollution

Tata Steel said Dutch prosecutors have summoned its Netherlands-based subsidiary, Tata Steel IJmuiden B.V., over suspected criminal offences linked to alleged pollution at its coke and gas plants. The summons concerns incidents of "undercooked coke." The company said it works to minimise such occurrences but added they are technically unavoidable at times in large-scale industrial production.
