Tax on devotion: Punjab CM on 12% GST on inns near Golden Temple

Punjab CM condemned the Centre's decision to impose a 12% GST on inns near Golden Temple. He said the tax has been imposed on pilgrims' devotion. Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee also criticised the Centre's decision, arguing that inns for pilgrims aren't commercial properties. In June, GST Council decided to impose a 12% GST on hotel rooms priced up to ₹1,000/day.
